CODER

Why coder? I’m a software engineer by proffesion. I have been writing code and developing apps for 18 years. I enjoy it and plan to do it as long as I can read the monitor. With that said, I should also mention that I hold a Bachelor of information science degree, this was not a prerequisite for my coding career, in fact a degree is not needed for coders, a year or two of learning the fundamentals, learning to code at a college would have been sufficient. The skill can be honed on the job. Not to say Im overqualified for the profession, but I do regret the time and money wasted at a university because not once in my coding career has anyone stopped to ask about what my degree entailed.

I have never stopped learning though, if there is one thing that separates the great coders from the chaff, it’s the ability to constantly learn and adapt. I started as a Java programmer, got certified and everything, then became a windows mobile programmer, then did some SAP and hardware programming before becoming a certified android programmer. Now I am an iOS Engineer. So yeah, learning and adaptability!
